The Dutch travel site Griekenland.net this week posted a feature on the Dodecanese Island of Patmos, the first in a series of features on well-known pilgrimages in Greece, with Meteora, Mount Athos, Aegina, Paros and Tinos to follow.

The site, which has an average of 2.7 million visitors, focuses exclusively on travel and visits to Greece.

A group of Dutch journalists and travel writers visited the Patmos, the island associated with the Book of Revelation, in late June, at the initiative of the municipal government of the isle.

The highlight of the tour was the Monastery of St. John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse, where St. John authored the Book of Revelation in the late first century.
