Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew declared an honorary citizen of Thermaikos
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Tuesday continued his pastoral visit to northern Greece, where in the morning he was declared an honorary citizen of the municipality of Thermaikos and awarded the key to the city.
On Monday afternoon, His All Holiness attended events commemorating the centennial of the abominable Asia Minor Catastrophe, while officiating at a prayer service in memory of the victims.
The Ecumenical Patriarch also attended an art exhibition with paintings depicting the tragedy of the uprooting of the millennia long Hellenic presence in Asia Minor, followed by a remembrance commemoration at the municipality of Kalamaria, in east Thessaloniki.
