The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Monday inaugurated sessions of the international theology conference entitled “St. Gennadios Scholarios – Between East and West.”
The conference is taking place in the ancient city of Chalcedon, and is jointly organized by the Holy Metropolis of Chalcedon and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s theology faculty.

His All Holiness conveys condolences over passing of Queen Elizabeth II

In a related development, the Ecumenical Patriarch, in a Patriarchal Letter to His Majesty, the King of the United Kingdom, Charles III, expressed to the new Monarch, and through him to the royal family, the British people and the Commonwealth, the warmest condolences of the Ecumenical Throne, and of himself personally, on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Patriarchal Letter underlines that the late Monarch throughout her 70-year reign served her duties and the crown with exemplary dedication, for the benefit of the United Kingdom, while leaving her personal mark, with her overall attitude, at a time of great political and social changes for her country and challenges faced by the entire world.

The Ecumenical Patriarch also expressed a wish that the new King, with God’s speed, work with the same dedication for the good of his people.

His All-Holiness also conveyed a letter of condolence to the Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of All England, Justin Portal Welby.
