Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives Metropolitan of Axum Daniel at Phanar

In a message posted on the Metropolis’ social media accounts, His Eminence Daniel expressed his “…warm material thanks and infinite gratitude for the Avramic hospitality, exemplary nobility, fatherly love, as well as for His blessing to the Orthodox of the Metropolis of Axum.”

In a related development, His All Holiness will travel to the Trabzon vicinity in the southeast corner of the Black Sea, the ancient Pontus region, on August 15, where he will officiate at the Con-celebratory Divine Liturgy at the historic Sumela Monastery, on the occasion of the Great feast day of Dormition of the Virgin.

The reverent service will take place after Turkish authorities in the prefecture of Trabzon granted permission for the service, as the cliff-hanging monastery has been converted into a museum by the Turkey state after 1923.
