Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to visit Mt. Athos in May
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, this week announced that he will visit Mount Athos at the end of May, speaking during a meeting with the visiting Abbot of the Esphigmenou Monastery, Archimandrite Bartholomew, and Elders of the Monastery
His All Holiness also called for the evacuation of the main building of the Esphigmenou Monastery from non-Athonite occupiers and implementation of the decisions of the Greek courts as soon as possible.
In a related development with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Mother Church’s Metropolitan of Adrianople, His Eminence Amphilochios, on Wednesday officiated at a Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of St. George in Adrianople, on the occasion of the feast day of New Martyr Luke.
