Ecumenical Patriarch to deliver principal address, receive an honorary degree at Notre Dame this May
Notre Dame University in the United States this week announced that the Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, will deliver the principal address and receive an honorary degree at the renowned university’s 175th commencement ceremony, and specifically on May 17.
In a statement, Notre Dame president, Rev. John Jenkins noted that «…Patriarch Bartholomew has been a champion for understanding and encounter among the world’s religions, as well as for environmental initiatives, religious freedom and human rights.”
The Ecumenical Patriarch will arrive in the United States for an official visit in early May, where, among others, he will be received at the White House by US President Donald Trump.
