Elder Ephraim’s condition continues to improve on a daily basis

The condition of the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim is improving on a daily basis, attending physicians said on Friday, as the Elder continues to be treated at the public Evangelismos Hospital in central Athens
The beloved Elder faced very critical moments last month at the hospital’s ICU.

His case was among the most difficult managed by the ICU team led by Dr. Anastasia Kotanidou and pathology professor Dr. Eleni Mageira, as the patient was admitted to the Evangelismos Hospital on May 28 for Covid-19 and suffering from underlying health conditions.

The Abbot of the Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi has remained at the hospital for roughly a month and a half, most of the time intubated, with his condition on Friday described as not only stable but notably improved.

He remains in the intensive care unit of Evangelismos, but is fully conscious and lucid, with every day that passes generated more guarded optimism about the course of his health.

The prayers of the faithful from around the world for his speeding recovery continue, along with touching messages of compassion and well-wishes by distinguished personalities from every corner of the earth.

Hierarchs of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece and the Church of Crete are in constant contact with the Vatopedi brotherhood, while best wishes and support have been conveyed by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, the Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, as well as Athonite Elders, such as Elder Elisaios, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra.
