Encyclical by Holy Eparchial Synod of Church of Crete decries gun violence, blood feuds on large island

On the occasion of the upcoming great feast day of Christmas, the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete has issued an encyclical, which was read out on Sunday in all parishes on the large island during the Divine Liturgy.
The encyclical condemns all phenomena of hate, evil and sin, while also citing instances of violence that have plagued society of the recent period. Additionally, the Church of Crete refers to the scourge of weapons possession and blood feuds on the island, saying the latter are a prime reason for criminality and homicides.
