Enthusiastic response to performance of excerpts from trilogy ‘Long Hours’ on Thursday at Herod Atticus Odeon

The long-awaited performance of excerpts from the trilogy “Long Hours”, which was held on Thursday evening at Herod Atticus Odeon, was enthusiastically received by audience members, and providing moving moments for all the involved parties.
The unique musical event was produced by the St. Maximus the Greek Institute and sponsored by the Pemptousia platform.

Excerpts of the trilogy “Long Hours” were performed by the State Orchestra of Athens, conducted by Stathis Soulis, along with 100 choristers from three separate choirs: Chorus Vivendi, Melode and the University of Thessaly’s Choir.

Noted artists, such as Glykeria, Dimitris Bassis and Jonathan Jackson, the Emmy-award winning US musician and actor, performed excerpts from the oratorio by composer Andreas Katsigiannis.

The latter is based on his work “The Place of Silence”, dedicated to the memory of St. Joseph the Hesychast.
Greek stage actor Nikitas Tsakiroglou narrated.

After the end of the singular and well-received performance, the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, spoke to the audience and performers on the mission and works of the St. Maximos the Greek Institute over the years.
The event was attended by many hierarchs, office-holders and artists.
