Feast day of Cosmas the New Hieromartyr

The Church today venerates the memory of Cosmas the New Hieromartyr & Equal-to-the Apostles of Aetolia.

In commemoration of today’s feast day of St. Cosmas of Aetolia, numerous faithful gathered in the village of Kolkondas, near the central Albanian city of Fieri, this week for services at the site of the saint’s martyrdom. Services were officiated by the Autocephalous Church of Albania’s Metropolitan of Fieri & Apollonia, His Eminence Nikolaos, who following the Vespers referred to St. Cosmas’ martyrdom and the role of Orthodox believers today in providing testimony of their faith.

An archieratical Vesper was held on Tuesday on the eve of the feast day of St. Cosmas at the dedicated monastery in the saint’s native village of Mega Dendro, in the western prefecture of Aetoloakarnania.
