Feast day of Saint Eleftherios, Bishop of Illyria, celebrated on Thursday in Athens
The feast day of Saint Eleftherios, Bishop of Illyria, was celebrated on Thursday, 15 December 2022, at a dedicated cathedral in central Athens. The Pemptousia television platform was on hand for the festive services.
The feast day of St. Eleftherios was also celebrated with reverent ecclesiastical rites in the central Albanian city of Vlore, where the local Orthodox community continues to strive to build a new metropolitan cathedral dedicated to the saint, a Martyr of Illyria.
On the occasion of the feast day, the Metropolitan of Apollonia and Fier, His Eminence Nikolaos, officiated at the Orthros and the con-celebratory Divine Liturgy, held at the Church of the Sts. Theodores, accompanied by clerics of the local parishes.
