The Patriarchate of Jerusalem on Thursday celebrated the commemoration of the Great Martyr George, the Trophy-bearer.


The feast was celebrated at the Holy Monastery dedicated to the saint in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, with Vespers on Wednesday afternoon.

The Divine Liturgy on Thursday morning was officiated by Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Most Godly Beatitude Theophilos III, with co-celebrants being several Metropolitans, Archimandrites and Hiero-deacons of the Patriarchate.

Still in the Middle East, the Patriarch of Antioch, His Beatitude John X, visited the city of Hama on Thursday, on his way from Aleppo to Damascus.

His Beatitude was welcomed at the entrance of the Orthodox cathedral of St. George by clerics and the faithful from the area.

In southeast Europe, the Patriarchate of Serbia on Thursday commemorated the feast day of St. George the Trophy-Bearer.
The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, officiated at the cathedral of St. Savva in the city of Vršac, where he was welcomed by the Bishop of Banat, His Grace Nikanor.
