The Feast Day of St. Menas of Egypt was celebrated with particular ecclesiastical splendor on Monday in the northern Greek city of Kastoria, with the veneration of the city’s patron saint coinciding with the 104th anniversary of its liberation during WWI.

An archieratical Divine Liturgy was held on Monday morning at the Byzantine-era Cathredral of St. Menas, officiated by the Metropoitan of Fthiotida, His Eminence Simeon, and con-celebrated by the Metropolitan of Kastoria, His Eminence Seraphim.
A procession of the Holy Icon and Relics of St. Menas followed through the center of the lake-side city, leading to the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin, where a doxology service was held to commemorate the anniversary of Kastoria’s liberation.
