Feast day of the Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebastia

The Church today venerates the memory of the Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebastia, as well as the Priest Christos from Andravida and Demogeron (a local authority) Panagos, new martyrs from the town of Gastouni, both in Ilia prefecture of southern Greece. These two saints achieved the crown of martyrdom at the hands of the Ottomans in the early 18th century, refusing to renounce their faith.
