Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos – based on Julian calendar – celebrated with Athonite splendor at Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi – (VIDEO + PHOTOS)
The Feast of the Annunciation of the Most-Holy Theotokos, the Virgin Mary, based on the Julian calendar, was celebrated in centuries-old Athonite splendor and reverence on Tuesday at the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos.
A Great Vespers service was officiated by the Very Reverend Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar, Archimandrite Elder Methodios, who offered prayer within the catholicos, the main cathedral, with the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, and the First Secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Dimitriada, Archimandrite Damaskinos Kiametis, along with other Athonite fathers.
The Civil Governor of the semi-autonomous monastic community of Mount Athos, Athanasios Martinos, also attended the service.
