The Feast of the Holy Pentecost, which is celebrated each year on the 50th day after Great and Holy Easter, was observed with a celebratory Divine Liturgy on Sunday at the main Orthodox Cathedral serving the ethnic Greek community of Cairo, Egypt, St. Nicholas.

The Metropolitan of Memphis, His Eminence Nikodimos, presided at the Divine Liturgy.

In his sermon afterwards, Nikodimos noted that “… man without the spirit of God is an empty, lifeless individual. And our era today is filled with empty people, with vacant and lifeless souls. More than every today, man needs the advent of the Holy Spirit.”

In Bucharest, the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, also referred to the significance of the Holy Spirit, calling on the faithful to open their hearts to God in order to receive Its blessings.
