First Aid Truck Departs from Our Lady of Balamand Monastery to Aleppo
Through the Grace of God, the first aid truck departed this morning from the Patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand towards the Lebanese-Syrian border and from there to the Archdiocese in Aleppo. The Oikonomos of the monastery, the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Georges Yaacoub, delivered the truck at the border to Father Minas Fahoum, representing the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development and responsible for its office in Tartous. The department team will sort and distribute the aids.
The process of loading the in-kind aid into the truck took place yesterday evening at the Balamand Monastery, where His Beatitude Patriarch John X blessed the children who gathered in response to the call for relief. The Orthodox Youth Movement, Tripoli Center, the members of the National Orthodox Scouts from the North and Mount Lebanon groups, the students of the Institute Theology in Balamand, and the students from the University of Balamand in addition to the residents of the monastery and several zealous believers all participating in truck loading.
The campaign included a lot of food assistance and children’s needs, in addition to clothes, the quantity of which exceeded the urgent need at the current stage, and all of them were collected from the contributions of zealous people driven by haste and eagerness.
It is noteworthy that the ability for contributions, especially financial and food assistance, is still open to everyone.
