The St. Maximus the Greek Institute has unveiled a new musical compilation of songs first performed by legendary singer and actress Sofia Vembo, whose voice is associated with the Greek Army’s victory against Italian fascist forces in the early stages of WWII on the Albanian front.

The 12 songs are performed by a chorus of 350 children, led by choir director Sofia Manou.

The compilation was issued for the 80th anniversary of Greece’s entry into the Second World War and the 110th anniversary of Vembo’s birth in Gallipoli.

The album will go on sale in the next few months.

The first single from the album, a pre-war song called “Be Strong, My Greece”, is sung by Manou.
