Funeral service for Cypriot politician Alexis Galanos

On Cyprus, a funeral service for the mayor-in-exile of Famagusta and former president of Cyprus’ House of Representatives, Alexis Galanos, was held on Monday at the Holy Wisdom Cathedral in the township of Strovolos, in the free areas of the island republic.
Galanos, 78, died last Monday while on holiday with his family on the Greek island of Kos. A 40-day period of mourning was declared by the municipality’s administration.
