Funeral Service of the late Emmanuel Karakonstantakis
On Wednesday, 6 August 2025, at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Mastambas, Heraklion, His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, together with Their Eminences, Metropolitan Theodoros of Seleucia; Metropolitan Andreas of Arkalochori, Kastelli and Viannos; and His Grace Bishop Paisios of Apamea, celebrated the Funeral Service of the late Emmanuel Karakonstantakis, originally from Viannos.
The late Emmanuel was the father of the Archdeacon of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, Fr. Athinagoras.
His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, on behalf of the attending Hierarchs, spoke about the integrity of the late Emmanuel Karakonstantakis. This was followed by speeches and declarations.
The late Emmanuel, a most selfless and longstanding figure of PASOK, was honoured and farewelled by, among others, the Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis; the Member of Parliament for Heraklion, Mr. Fragkiskos Parasyris; the Mayors of Minoa Pediada, Mr. Vasilis Kegeroglou, and of Viannos, Mr. Pavlos Baritakis; Deputy Regional Governors; as well as representatives of various institutions.
