The visiting president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, on Tuesday toured the St Anthimos Monastery in Bucharest, Romania, a monastic settlement founded by St. Anthimos the Iberian more than 300 years ago.
She arrived in the country for an official visit.

The Georgian president was welcomed by His Grace, Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești.

His Grace emphasized that the St Anthimos Monastery is very significant, as it is “…a key place for the relations, collaboration and fellowship between the Romanian and Georgian peoples.”

The Elders of the monastery presented the honorable president of Georgia with an icon of St. Anthimos and several books on his life as well as the history of the monastic foundation.
