Greece’s deputy citizens’ protection minister, Lefteris Economou, spoke by Skype with the Orthodoxia News Agency this week, answering questions on the safeguarding of Greece’s land and sea borders amid the coronavirus pandemic, in tandem with a resurgent migrant crisis faced by the country on its eastern borders.

He added that the public should respect and adhere to measures imposed against the non-essential movement outdoors, in order to protect individuals and their loved ones. Economou referred to an unpleasant but necessary decision to close places of worship in the country, reminding that this measure is temporary.

In concluded by citing prayer to the Virgin Mary in order to overcome the global crisis.
