Greek PM in reaction to Christchurch attacks: Crimes in name of religion unfathomable

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras this week referred to the shocking and deadly terrorist attack against two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, last Friday.

In a partisan political event revolving around the future of young people in Greece and the rest of Europe, held at an Athens theater on Monday evening, the Greek premier emphasized that “… patriotism means to love your country, not to hate other people’s countries.”

Touching on the timely issue of religion in the world, he added that “… I cannot understand how it is possible in the name of religion, which loves Man, and Christianity is a pre-eminent such example, for crimes to be committed in the name of religion.”
