H.G. Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos and Rev. Nicolas Kazarian Serve as Members of Ecumenical Patriarchate Delegation to World Council of Churches
Today marks the last day of the 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC) that met in Karlsruhe, Germany. His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos and Rev. Nicolas Kazarian were members of the Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate that participated in the Assembly.
The WCC Assembly is the highest governing body of the World Council of Churches, and normally meets every eight years. It is the only time when the entire fellowship of 352 member churches comes together in one place for prayer and reflection around the Assembly theme “Christ’s love moves the world reconciliation and unity.”
Rev. Nicolas Kazarian was also elected to the WCC’s Central Committee, which serves as its chief governing body. This position will facilitate collaboration between the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and fellow WCC members.
