His Eminence Metropolitan Ioakeim of Bursa attends funeral service of the President of the Jewish Community of Bursa
His Eminence Metropolitan Ioakeim of Bursa, was present at the funeral service of the President of the Jewish Community of Bursa, Leon Elnekave.
The funeral was performed by Chief Rabbi of the Jews of Turkey, İshak Haleva, at the historic Gerus Synagogue of Bursa, in the presence of members of the Jewish Community, of the Mayor of the Greater Bursa Region, the Prefect of Osmangazi and other representatives of the authorities of the city, as well as friends of the deceased.
Metropolitan Ioakeim expressed, both in his speech and in his private communication with the relatives of the late President of the Jewish Community, the condolences of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, but also of the local Church.
