His Holiness Porfirije formally enthroned at most Holy Throne of Archbishops of Peć and Patriarchs of Serbia

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Porfirije, was enthroned today at the most holy Throne of the Archbishops of Peć and Patriarchs of Serbia.
His Holiness presided over the Divine Liturgy at the ancient monastery of the Patriarchate of Peć, located in the Kosovo and Metohija province.

The splendorous and solemn ceremony coincided with the celebration of the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, as based on the Julian calendar.

The two-year pandemic and obstacles placed by the Kosovo Albanians in the holding of the ceremony had led to its delay.

Patriarch Porfirije, who was first enthroned in Belgrade, arrived on Wednesday, accompanied by an entourage of Serbian Orthodox Church hierarchs, as well as the Moscow Patriarchate’s Metropolitan of Budapest and All Hungary, His Eminence Hilarion.
