Holy and Sacred Synod convenes at the Phanar
The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate began its session today at the Phanar, presided over by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Synod’s agenda includes the matter of the successor to Archbishop Sotirios of Canada.
Archbishop Sotirios led the Archdiocese of Canada for 52 years and submitted his resignation to the Ecumenical Patriarch a few days ago.
Last Sunday, he celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St Nicholas Cathedral in Toronto, calling upon the faithful to remain close to Christ and to support and pray for the new Archbishop.
