Holy Light from Jerusalem to again arrive in Athens

The Holy Light from Jerusalem will be conveyed to Greece this year via a private flight from the Holy Land to Athens, and specifically aboard an Aegean Air passenger jet.
As opposed to previous years, the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece this time will not send a representative to accompany the Holy Light, given that the plane will depart for Israel on Holy Friday, rather than on the same day, Holy Saturday.
The Holy Synod explained that Church hierarchs on Holy & Great Friday officiate at the emotive Service of the Epitaphios, or Epitáphios Thrēnos, Greek for “Lamentation upon the Grave”.
