Honorary Participation of the Ecumenical Patriarch in the Establishment of the Association of Alumni and Friends of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, following a kind invitation from the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor of Cardiology Mr Gerasimos Siasos, accepted to participate in the establishment of the Association of Alumni and Friends of NKUA.
His All-Holiness signed the relevant founding Act on Holy Tuesday, 7 April, at the Patriarchal Office, in the presence of the Rector of NKUA, the Dean of its Theological School, Professor Mr Emmanouil Karageorgoudis, and Grand Ecclesiarch Fr Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office, expressing the wish that this new body may contribute to the further strengthening of the multifaceted intellectual and spiritual offering of the oldest university institution in Greece.
It is recalled that the Ecumenical Patriarch has been conferred an honorary doctorate by all the Departments of all the Faculties of this historic University.
