Ioannina: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visits Synagogue of City
During his stay in Ioannina, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos visited the Synagogue of the city on Wednesday, accompanied by Metropolitan Maximos of Ioannina, and the Minister of Culture of Greece, Ms. Lina Mendoni.
There the Mayor of Ioannina, Mr. Moses Elisaf, who was waiting for him, guided him around the site, presented him with the holy relics, artifacts and the history of the city’s Israeli Community.
The Ecumenical Patriarch stood in particular awe at the marble plaques where the names of the victims of Nazi atrocities are written and left his message in the guest book.
The Mayor of Ioannina thanked His All-Holiness warmly for the visit, as well as for his presence in the city these days.
