Iran’s intelligence minister admits to ‘mass conversions’ of new Christians in the country

Media reports and Christian NGOs this month reported that Iran’s Intelligence Minister, Mahmoud Alavi, has admitted that new converts to Christianity are rising in the country, despite official and growing persecution.
Iran’s own government agents admitted recently that “mass conversions” are taking place despite the theocratic regime’s best efforts to prevent them.

Conversion from Islam and evangelizing are both illegal in the country.

However, the group Open Doors USA reports that Muslims are rapidly coming to Christ in Iran, so rapidly that Iran’s government leaders are now acknowledging the exponential growth of the Church.

Alavi told participants at a conference for Shia Muslim leaders that the state’s intelligence services are summoning Christian converts for questioning, while adding that mass conversions are “…happening right under our eyes”.

He also claimed that “… western intelligence agency” are behind the mass baptisms, which he said aim to undermine national security in the Mideast country.
