Kyriakos Pierrakakis: “The Ecumenical Patriarchate, a guardian of Orthodoxy and a point of reference for the entirety of Hellenism.”
The Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, represented the Greek government at the festive celebrations of Theophany at the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Mr Pierrakakis attended the Divine Liturgy, concelebrated by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, as well as the Blessing of the Waters at the Golden Horn.
The Minister also met with the Ecumenical Patriarch. They discussed matters concerning Hellenism of the diaspora and the enduring role of the Patriarchate in safeguarding the unity of Orthodoxy. Mr Pierrakakis conveyed the Greek government’s commitment to continued support of the Patriarchate’s work.
Immediately following the ceremony, the Minister of National Economy and Finance made the following statement: “The Ecumenical Patriarchate is a guardian of Orthodoxy and a point of reference for the entirety of Hellenism. Greece always stands by its side, supporting its ecumenical character and its mission in a world that is in need of greater dialogue, peace, and cohesion.
