Memorial service on 196th anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Paleon Patron Germanos

A memorial service for renowned Metropolitan Paleon Patron Germanos, who raised the banner of revolution in March 1821 to mark the commencement of the Greek War of Independence in the Peloponnese, was held at the historic Monastery of St. Lavra on Monday, May 30, the 196th anniversary of the hierarch’s repose in the Lord.

The Metropolitan of Kalavryta & Aigialias, His Eminence Ieronymos, officiated at a Divine Liturgy and the memorial, while later extoling the life and works of the historic Metropolitan and co-herald of the Greek Revolution.
