Metropolis of Chisinau and all Moldova: Metropolitan Vladimir appointed a new monk superior to the Monastery in Nicoreni

On Saturday, 21 November 2020, on the Feast of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel, the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Monastery of the Holy Prophet Elias in Nicoreni community, Drochia region.

Metropolitan Vladimir was assisted at the service by Archimandrite Kirill (Braguta), the monk superior of Hirjauca Monastery, Archimandrite Vlasie (Usurelu), Manciple of Nicoreni Monastery, and numerous priests and deacons.

During the Small Entrance, Metropolitan Vladimir confirmed the new monk superior of the Monastery of Nicoreni – Archimandrite Vlasie (Usurelu). Congratulating reverend Vlasie, Metropolitan Vladimir wished him to be a good leader of the monastic community, a zealous monk, and love Church services and monastic living, following the example of the ever-commemorated Archimandrite Rafail (Bodiu), the first superior of Nicoreni Monastery.

During the service, subdeacon Mihail Braileanu, graduate of Chisinau Academy of Orthodox Theology, was ordained deacon and appointed to ministry in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Chisinau.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir conducted the Commemoration Service on the 40th day after the repose of Archimandrite Rafail (Bodiu), the founder of Nicoreni Monastery.

Talking to the liturgical community, His Eminence Vladimir mentioned that Archimandrite Rafail had been a model of monastic living who had sought to fulfil Evangelical principles during all his life.

The metropolitan urged Archimandrite Vlasie and the monastic community entrusted to him, to continue the work started by Archimandrite Rafail, and to pray for the repose of his soul.

Archimandrite Vlasie thanked Metropolitan Vladimir and the monastic brothers for the trust and support, expressing readiness to bear the cross of the administration of the monastery, with Christian humility and devotion.
