Metropolitan of Didimotycho Damaskinos leads group of pilgrims to God-Trodden Mt. Sinai
A group of 60 pilgrims from the northeast Greek prefecture of Evros, led by the Metropolitan of Didimotycho, Orestiada and Soufli, His Eminence Damaskinos, arrived in the ancient land of Egypt this week, with the first destination being God-Trodden Mount Sinai, for a pilgrimage to the historic St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Monastery.
A Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday at the monastery’s catholicon, the main cathedral, officiated by the visiting Metropolitan, and co-officiated by the same-name Elder Archimandrite Damaskinos, the abbot of the Monastery of St. George in Cairo’s Old Quarter, along with clerics of the Diocese and Sinai Elders.
