Metropolitan of Lovec: Time to broach issue of clerics murdered during communist era

The Bulgarian Patriarchate’s Metropolitan of Lovec, His Eminence Gavriil, was quoted this month as saying it may be time to finally examine the issue of recognizing as martyrs the clerics murdered during the communist era in the Balkan country.
His Eminence called on researchers, historians and college students to seek out information and documentation detailing the persecution endured by the Orthodox clergy – often leading to the loss of their lives – during the dour and pro-atheist communist era, in the second half of the 20th century.
