Metropolitan of Volokolamsk details Russian Church’s initiatives in war-torn Syria

The Patriarchate of Moscow hosted the fifth meeting of an inter-synod committee for cooperation between religious societies. The meeting was held at the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate’s Department of External Church Relations.

The committee was established in 2014 through an initiative by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, with the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, His Eminence Hilarion, chairing.

In a brief introductory address, Hilarion focused on the Russian Church’s initiatives in war-torn Syria over the past five years, especially in providing humanitarian aid.

He also thanked the Russian foreign ministry for its cooperation and the protection, as he said, of moral values and the rights of believers worldwide.
