In greeting the Turkish diplomat, Metropolitan Hilarion, who heads the Moscow Patriarchate’s external Church relations department, referred to the significance in ties between the Russian Church and Turkey’s state-run directorate of religious affairs, within the framework of safeguarding religious freedoms in Turkey.
