Monday of the Holy Spirit celebrated by Orthodoxy around the world
A religious holiday is observed today throughout Greece, as the Monday of the Holy Spirit, also known as Whit Monday in English – or Pentecost Monday – marks one of the major Feast Days on the Orthodox calendar.
The moveable after-feast is observed on the Monday after Pentecost Sunday.
Orthodoxy honors God the Holy Spirit, and particularly in commemoration of His descent upon the Apostles at Pentecost.
