Montenegro PM to receive Metropolitan Bishop of Serbian Orthodox Church in the country, as opposition continues to law threatening Church
The Metropolitan Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, was set to meet today with the prime minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic, in light of continued peaceful protests and opposition in the small Adriatic country to a recently passed law regarding religious institutions.
The Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro has charged that the controversial law aims to deprive it of its properties and relics, which it possessed prior to 1914. Orthodoxy is the prevalent faith in Montenegro.
In previous statements, His Eminence stressed that the Church is always open to discuss this significant problem with the state.
