The deputy governor of Mount Athos, Aristos Kasmiroglou, this week signed a decision extending a ban on all pilgrimages to the autonomous Orthodox monastic community until Dec. 15.
The decision is directly linked to current public health precautions and restrictions imposed to prevent exposure to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision was published by Greece’s foreign ministry.
