New Archbishop of Australia visits Parliament of New South Wales

The New Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the parliament of New South Wales in Sydney, where he was received by the resident of the New South Wales Legislative Council, John Ajaka.

Following a tour of the legislature, given personally by Ajaka, who was accompanied by New South Wales Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliot, and Deputy Premier of New South Wales, John Barilaro, His Eminence sat for a reception in his honor.

During talks, Makarios briefed the New South Wales office-holders over efforts by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on a global and Pan-Orthodox level for the reopening of the Halki School of Theology and the issue of Autocephaly for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, among others.
