New Year’s Carols in the streets of Chalcedon, Constantinople

The cold may have been bitter on Monday in Constantinople, but the “few but countless” Greeks of Constantinople took to the streets, accompanied by the tireless director of the historic “Zappeion” school in Constantinople, Ioannis Dermitzoglou, to sing New Year’s carols in the streets of Chalcedon.

In the homes of the elderly and in churches, the few Greeks in the city reverently observed the customs of the Greeks of the City this year.

Happy New Year from the bottom of our hearts to all those who keep the flame of Hellenism burning in the heart of Constantinople.
