His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, awarded writer Momir Krsmanovic with the Order of Saint Sava at a solemn reception at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 22 October 2019.

The event was attended by members of the Holy Synod of Bishops: His Eminence Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia and Their Graces Bishops Irinej of Backa, Jovan of Sumadija and David of Krusevac.

In the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops, read by the Secretary-General of the Synod protopresbyter-staurophor Dr. Savo B. Jovic, it is stated that the high distinction of the Serbian Orthodox Church – the Order of Saint Sava of the Second Degree is presented to the writer Momir Krsmanovic for his persistent witnessing to the truth about the suffering of the Serbian people in the tragic times, which he described in his books and save of oblivion, with a clear message that something like that never be repeated.

Thanking for the high distinction, writer Momir Krsmanovic pointed out, among other things: – I noted testimonies of the suffering of over six thousand Serbs, women and children, murdered by Croat and Muslim Ustashas in Stari Grad in 1942, as well as the facts about the suffering of the Serbian people by the Communist regime after 1945. Everything I have done I have achieved with the aid of the Lord and Saint Sava, the first Archbishop of Serbia, whose name the decoration I receive today bears.

The ceremony at the Patriarchate was attended also by family members and friends of the writer Momir Krsmanovic, Head of the Office of the Patriarch of Serbia Deacon Dr. Aleksandar Prascevic, warden of the Patriarchate’s Palace Mr. Vladimir Jelic, dean of the Cathedral church protopresbyter-stavrophor Petar Lukic, protopresbyter-staurophor Delovoje Rajak, representatives of the scientific and cultural life of the capital city.
