Ordination of new Metropolitan of Spain & Portugal Vissarion at Ecumenical Patriarchate; virtual Halki summit commences
The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All-Holiness Bartholomew, on Monday presided over the Vespers Service on the feast day of St. Gregory the Theologian, Archbishop of Constantinople.
Earlier on the same day, a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was accompanied by the splendorous ordination of the new Metropolitan of Spain and Portugal, His Eminence Vissarion.
In a related development, the Ecumenical Patriarchate is organizing this year’s Halki Summit on subject of “COVID-19 and Climate Change: Living with and Learning from a Pandemic.“
Due to the ongoing public health crisis, sessions will be held remotely, via webinars, beginning on Thursday.
According to a news release by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the pandemic of Covid-19 has permanently affected the planet and altered peoples lives, adding: «…The world has wrestled to survive and learned to live with the coronavirus. But what are the lessons that we have learned? What has been the impact on nature and the environment? What have been the implications for healthcare? And what have we understood about the relevance and importance of science?”.
