Orthodox Church calls on the faithful in Montenegro to disburse after prayer rallies against controversial law on religious institutions

The Episcopal council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro has announced that it will fully comply with restrictive measures in place to contain the Covid-19 exposure, calling on people who participate in peaceful protests against a controversial law on religious institutions to disburse after a mass prayer – and not to proceed with street rallies through Montenegro’s cities.

In a related development, the Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, expressed his appreciation for the faithful, who as he said, have not surrendered but are still struggling against the unjust law.

The Church in Montenegro charges that the legislation is aimed directly against Orthodoxy, threatening its assets and relics with confiscation by the state.
