Members of an episcopal council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro convened on Wednesday to discuss the stance that the Church will maintain in the face of a controversial law passed in the country, one that drastically affects religious institutions.

The Church in the small Adriatic nation has repeatedly warned that the specific law will allow the Montenegro state to confiscate Church properties and relics.

According to an announcement, the Church in Montenegro will seek recourse to a constitutional court, while also dismissing a series of press reports claiming that a dialogue has begun with the government over the contentious law.

The Church in Montenegro underlined that the government has not submitted any official proposal for dialogue.
