Partial lock-down in Germany until early January

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the continuation of a partial lock-down in the country until the beginning of January, with some relaxation for the Christmas period. She emphasized that “the situation does not allow us to lift the restrictions of November”.

Merkel said services in Churches for Christmas Eve and the rest of the holy days should also be avoided, although specific agreements with religious communities will be sought in the near future.
