Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria offers Trisagion at the graves of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s family
On the evening of June 11, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria offered a Trisagion service for the repose of the souls of the parents of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Christos and Meropi, as well as his sister, Zaharo.
The memorial service took place on the island of Imbros, the birthplace of the Ecumenical Patriarch. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s parents passed away in Constantinople in the early 1990s. Several years later, their mortal remains were transferred to their native island and laid to rest in the village of Agioi Theodoroi, behind the Church of Saint George.
The Ecumenical Patriarch’s sister, Zaharo, reposed in the Lord in Athens in 2023 and was buried alongside her parents on Imbros.
The Trisagion service was held in a spirit of prayer and remembrance, as Patriarch Daniil invoked God’s mercy upon the departed members of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s family.
