Your Beatitude, Beloved in the Lord Brother and Concelebrant:
I have been grieved to learn about the passing away of His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor), your beatific predecessor who headed the Orthodox Church in in America from 1977 to 2002. Please accept my profound and sincere condolences upon the lost that has been suffered by your flock.
The deceased visited the Russian Orthodox Church many times and made a significant contribution to the strengthening of fraternal relations between our two Churches.
May the merciful Lord give repose to the soul of His deceased servant in the mansions of the righteous and make his memory eternal.

Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, sent a message of condolences to the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America over the passing away of Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor)
With profound sorrow I have learnt about the loss suffered by the Orthodox Church in America. The Lord has called to Himself a faithful servant – Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor), who headed the American Church for long years. Under his guidance the Church of Christ in the American continent grew and built up.
I lift up prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased Metropolitan Theodosius with the saints and prayerfully wish consolation from God in these sorrowful circumstances to Your Beatitude, all the relatives and loved ones of the deceased and all the faithful of the Orthodox Church in America.
May God Christ give repose to the soul of His deceased Faithful servant where there is no sickness, sighing, and sorrow but life everlasting.
